In English there is an expression that has recently become very popular. When something is very important for someone, it is called a "game-changer". This may well reflect the fact that in our culture, much of life revolves around games [and, for that matter, toys, such as cars and phones...]. Games such as sports and also the manipulative or other psychological "games" people are constantly playing with each other. וד"ל.
