Tefilla #96 - Yiskadal Vi-yiskadash

His Great Name should be made great and sanctified.

In the Gemara it says that we say this in Aramaic so that the angels won't understand and get jealous [sorta like my father telling my mother secrets in Yiddish when we were kids so that we don't understand. Kaddish in Yiddish, anyone?].

The Zohar connects this to the pasuk in Yehoshua [7-9]

When the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land hear of this, they will turn upon us and wipe out our very name from the earth. And what will You do about Your Great Name?”

Says the Zohar that if the Jews are destroyed, Hashem's Name won't be made great. And that is the meaning of

This implies that there is an Avoda to DEFINE OURSELVES as the vessels to spread the name of Hashem to the world. This can only be done with a minyan and only Jews can make a minyan. The angels don't have that and they are thus jealous. So we say it in Aramaic so as not to arouse jealousy.

Regarding מכת בכורות it says אני ולא מלאך - it was Hashem and not with an angel. An angel would have created הסתר - concealment. When it was done directly by Hashem, it brought a great revelation. THAT is the job of the Jews.
