Rav Yeshayahu Hadari z"l, the RY of Yeshivat HaKotel was asked by a student why he doesn't talk about current events.
He responded that in Yeshiva we are teaching about ETERNITY - 谞爪讞!!!
Fortunate are those who don't waste their time on politics but rather invest their time and enrgy on something truly valuable - namely, eternity. It makes not only for great life in the next world but for a far better life in this world.
Of course, many of the issues in politics have great spiritual ramifications [which is why most frum Jews are Republican - they feel that the Republican platform is much closer to Torah values than the Democratic platform. That is also why religious parties in Israel receive so much support from religious people]. But the vast majority of discussions about politics are not about Torah but just a waste of time at best and lashon hara filled at worst.
So PLEEEEASE don't waste your time reading and watching things relating to politics. There is Tanach, Talmud Bavli, Yerushalmi, Safra, Sifri, Toras Kohanim, Medrash Rabbah, Shulchan Aruch, endless Teshuva sefarim, Mussar, Chasidus etc. etc. etc.
