One recent hero on the "get interviewed" circuit, is a Gerrer chossid who became a doctor. He started in Kollel and then left, worked really really hard and he MADE IT!!
WOW!
IMPRESSSIIIVEEEE!!!
No high school education and he worked hard until he got his MD - and he remains a Gerrer chossid with the whole levush.
Now, everybody was put on earth for a reason. Everybody has a tafkid, a purpose. It could very well be that his tafkid is to be a chasidishe doctor. Being a doctor is a huge mitzva. It is Hashem's work - רופא חולי עמו ישראל. May he be blessed and an inspiration to other.
That being said - our tradition [Megillah 16b] teaches us that גדולה תלמוד תורה יותר מהצלת נפשות.
So there is literally nothing greater than learning Torah.
Even being a doctor.
