1] If people would GENUINELY ask he each other: "How are you? Spiritually, emotionally and physically. I really care and want to listen noncritically, if you feel comfortable sharing. I am here and have the time to listen." At first it will be REALLY REALLY awkward. But if people would get accustomed to saying that then so many suffering people would have the option of opening up and their burden would become that much lighter.
When one is נושא עול עם חבירו - bears the burden with his friend, then his friend doesn't have to carry it alone. We are all carrying heavy burdens, we are all dealing with stuff. Having a listening ear [no phones in sight...] would be a great start.
Step two would be to offer words of chizzuk and practical help if necessary.
That would make a beautiful world an even more beautiful place.
2] Every day in many shuls, there are people going around asking you for money. You get countless such request in regular mail and on line mail. You are approached by people on the street [depending on where you live]. Your local shuls and other mosdos ask you all the time. The requests never end and it is a seemingly bottomless pit.
It would make the world a better place if from time to time, the opposite would happen. Imagine a fellow goes around shul and says that he is here to give out money. He wants to give anyone truly in need. Really. But only ask if you really need. There are a lot of people in need and have nowhere to turn. When they do have to ask it is humiliating. He will give it later privately and he leaves his number and email address to make an appointment to receive the handout.
That would make a beautiful world an even more beautiful place.
