It happened that a pious man was walking on the road when he saw two people having relations with a female dog. GREAT strategy!!! The best defense is a good offense. These guys are having relations with a dog or each other [in a Beis Medrash!!!] and instead of doing teshuva they say - we will testify [falsely] against the person who caught us.
So too, in our days. Instead of people trying to fix their sins and weaknesses they attack those who believe in and represent morality and Kedusha.
