I often think of motivation. What motivates people? That is really one the most important questions in life. How to motivate ourselves and how to motivate others. The difference between a Talmid Chochom and Am Ha-aretz is motivation. The TC is just much more motivated to learn. The difference between a religiously observant person and ח"ו non-observant is also motivation. The religious person is motivated to get out of bed and go the the 6:30 Shachris while the irreligious person is not - even though they may both claim to believe in Hashem. What motivates some people to give loads of Tzdaka while others are very very VERY protective of THEIR money? They both know it is a HUUUUUUGE mitzva, an investment in eternity, that you can't take it with you etc. Yet one guy is really generous while the other guy a tight wad.
Tonight I was pondering the President. He has about the most difficult and stressful job on the planet. He doesn't need the salary. He can live off of his pension.... He is non-stop criticized and mocked. He is an OOOOLLLLD man in declining health. I know that because all old men are suffering from declining health. Plus, he is leading a country where over 74 million people [!!!!!] actively voted against him. Imagine you are the CEO of a company and 74 million of your employees didn't want you. How would that make you feel?? Let him retire, nobody will bother, criticize, insult, belittle and mock him [and his son, the "not criminal, not former drug addict" איש יודע צייד]. He could go to sleep and wake up whenever he wished. He could enjoy his family. He could travel or watch Netflix and cool Lubavitcher Rebbe clips. Whatever he wants. So what motivates him not only to keep the job but to try his darndest to get another four years of NON-STOP stress, pressure and aggravation?? What gives???
Only Jill and the "First Dog" ["FDOTUS"?] know....
