I hear this [from secular people] a LOT. Substituting the "universe" for "G-d". I thank the "universe". The "universe" has been kind to me. The universe this, the universe that. Why does it make more sense for them to believe that the "universe" is a super-power which directs their lives than it does to believe that G-d does??
Maybe one reason is that belief in the universe comes along with zero obligations while religion limits their behavior. It is like pornography. Pleasure [for those who get pleasure from filth] with no obligations. Real relationships involve obligations and not only pleasure. NOTHING in life is only pleasure.
