Place it [the laver] between the Ohel Moed And the Mizbeach.
Why in this place?
Why does the Torah have to emphasize this?
The laver is for purity. Purity comes from a combination of intellect and will. The אהל מועד symbolizes intellect for that is where the word of Hashem emanates. The Mizbeach is the source of will, רצון, for that is where we elevate and "sacrifice" all of our will. It is thus critical that the laver, purity, be placed in between these two points - שכל and רצון. Ohel Moed and Mizbeach.

ונתת אותו בין אוהל מועד ובין המזבח. הטהרה מוכרחת להיות באה מתוך ההשפעה של השכל ושל הרצון. יסוד אור השכל במקורו הוא הדבור האלהי, אשר אוהל מועד הוא נוסד עליו. "אוהל מועד אשר אועד לך שמה". והמזבח הוא מקור העלאת הרצון, יסוד ההקרבה, "לרצון לפני ד'". ונתת אותו בין אהל מועד ובין המזבח.
