Succos - A Time For Connection
SHAAAAAAAAAAAALOOOOMMMMMMMMM SWEEEEETEST FRIENDSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
Succos is a AMAZING time to connect to Hashem!!! Let's see!
The pasuk says הנה עין י-ה-ו-ה אל יראיו למיחלים לחסדו - The eye of Hashem is to those who fear Him and wait for His chesed. This pasuk alludes to the Kedusha of the Mitzva of Succah. The word Succah means to "look" "anticipate" [Chazal say that Sarah was called יסכה b/c הכל סוכים ביפיה - everyone "looks" at her beauty]. This is from Above to below and from below to Above. Let us explain: We wait and anticipate the chesed of Hashem. That is למיחלים לחסדו. Hashem looks at the Jewish people and anticipates that they should come close to Him. More than the calf wants to drink - the cow wants to nurse. That is the meaning of עין י-ה-ו-ה אל יראיו. We want Him and He wants us.
These two desires are intertwined in the Mitzva of Succah. The word מצוה means to connect like the word צוותא. The holiness of every mitzva enables us to connect to Hashem. Succah means to look at and anticipate, as we explained, so there is a special connection here.
From this hope we have to connect to Hashem comes our trust in Hashem. That is the mitzva of Succah when we take refuge in Hashem's shadow.
The root of our trust is drawn from the holiness of the Bris which relates to fear of Hashem. How do we know that Bris connects to fearing Hashem? The pasuk סוד ה' ליראיו ובריתו להודיעם - The secret of Hashem to those who fear Him and his Bris to inform them. Bris=Fear. This fear empowers as the pasuk says ביראת השם מבטח עז - Fear of Hashem is a stronghold.
That is the meaning of עין י-ה-ו-ה אל יראיו - The eye of Hashem to those who fear Him. The first letters of this pasuk has a gematria of 91 - just like סוכה!!! The gematria of the final letters is ALSO 91 - סוכה!! The gematria of the first and last letters indicate that this looking and anticipation is from Above [first letters] to below [last letters] and from below to Above. סוכה in both directions!!!
Through the Mitzva of Succah life, Bracha and all good things are bestowed upon us!!! As the next pasuk continues "להציל ממוות נפשם ולחיותם ברעב" - To save their souls from death and to give them life in famine. The next pasuk again alludes to Succah - "נפשינו חכתה לה' עזרנו ומגננו הוא" - Our souls wait for Hashem our Helper and Guardian!!!
What a SPECIAL time!!!
