People talk about the importance of "free speech" . Well - our own former President's apparently don't share that belief. This is how much they take for a speech:
Bill Clinton: $750K. 馃槻馃槻馃槻
Barack Obama: $400K. 馃槼馃槼
George Bush: $175K. 馃槼
Ronald Reagan: Unavailable. [But there are great, old videos of him available for free].
Jimmy Carter: $50K. [For the record I wouldn't pay him 50 cents but that is my personal opinion and not that of my employer or CBS].
WOW! Anything but free. [For the record - I take only 30k. Remarkably, my calendar is open for every day for the next ten years. So book me before someone else grabs me!!!].
But all joking aside, I heard a drasha by the President of Princeton U. about how free speech is under attack in the US. He received a rousing ovation for protecting the SACRED First Amendment.
What did he mean?? Who is trying to shut down free speech???
He was referring to the efforts of politicians such as Ron DeSantis and others to prevent schools from teaching young school children about the great wonders of having sexual relations with members of the same gender, that gender has nothing to do with biology, that the founding fathers were evil people, that America is systematically racist and other principles of faith of this new religion that has taken the world by storm called "Wokeism".
Imagine a teacher/Professor would express the view that black people, in general, are stupid and smell bad. He would be fired in the amount of time it would take to write him an email saying "You're fired" [and rightfully so!!!]. Would the Left come to his defense crying "FREE SPEECH"? Of course not. They would all but lynch him. Why? Because there are limits to what you can say. EVERYBODY agrees with that. The question is what the limits are.
For us Jews - we have a LOT of limits. Our Achilles heal is that we don't always keep to those limits.
