כְּשֶׁנּוֹפֵל אָדָם מִמַּדְרֵגָתוֹ, יֵדַע שֶׁמִּן הַשָּׁמַיִם הוּא, כִּי הִתְרַחֲקוּת – תְּחִלַּת הִתְקָרְבוּת, עַל־כֵּן נָפַל, שֶׁיִּתְעוֹרֵר יוֹתֵר לְהִתְקָרֵב לְהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ.
When a person falls from his spiritual level, he should know that it is Divinely ordained. This is because being rebuffed is the beginning of being drawn close. He therefore fell, in order that he should motivate himself to draw closer to God.
וַעֲצָתוֹ – שֶׁיַּתְחִיל מֵחָדָשׁ לִכָּנֵס בַּעֲבוֹדַת הַשֵּׁם, כְּאִלּוּ לֹא הִתְחִיל עֲדַיִן כְּלָל מֵעוֹלָם. וְזֶה כְּלָל גָּדוֹל בַּעֲבוֹדַת הַשֵּׁם, שֶׁצְּרִיכִין מַמָּשׁ בְּכָל יוֹם לְהַתְחִיל מֵחָדָשׁ: (וְעַיֵּן עִנְיָן זֶה עוֹד בְּכַמָּה מְקוֹמוֹת בְּסִפְרֵי רַבֵּנוּ זַ"ל, כַּמָּה צָרִיךְ הָאָדָם לְהִתְחַזֵּק בַּעֲבוֹדַת ה', וְלִבְלִי לִפֹּל מִשּׁוּם דָּבָר שֶׁבָּעוֹלָם, רַק לְהַתְחִיל בְּכָל פַּעַם מֵחָדָשׁ. עַיֵּן הֵיטֵב בְּעִנְיָן זֶה, וְיֶעֱרַב לְךָ לָעַד.)
The advice for him is to start anew, to enter the service of God as if he had never begun before.
