It is interesting that I once listened to an interview with Wiesel's son who corrected the interviewer who said that Wiesel had only been raised Chasidish but was not later in life. He said that his father never stopped being a chossid.
Maybe this is evidenced by the fact that he sent his son to Ramaz. I think it is safe to say that there is no school as close to Chasidus on the Upper East Side as Ramaz [except the Manhattan High School for Girls but his son would not have been accepted there].
