A baby in a certain community in Israel died from crib death many years ago.
The Rav there decided that it was a punishment for Bittul Torah at night. So for the next year, he had a chavrusa he learned with all night.
And it wasn't like he was sleeping all day.
I don't know how he came to the conclusion he did but it is beyond impressive how he tried to rectify the failing.
