Taking Things Seriously

The YU Macs 50 game winning streak was stopped by the powerhouse Illinois Wesleyan Yevanim Titans. The *true story* behind the loss was that Coach Steinmetz told the team before the game "Chevre - if we win they will feel so badly!!! They will shlep all the way home to Illinois with great tzaar and ogmas nefesh!!! But if we lose, they will be so happy. And we will ALSO be happy b/c then we will get back to the Beis and shteig away!!! It will be SUCH a Kiddush Hashem". [I have a video of this speech in my car imagination].

So they lost intentionally while *pretending* to play hard. That would explain all of the YU players serious *game faces* and *painful looks* when the game wasn't going in their favor.

"Kiddush-Hashem-Mission" accomplished!!! And nobody knows the truth [including the players themselves!!!] except readers of this blog.

There is nothing wrong with playing games. It is a healthy release. Enjoy. The problem starts when people take these games *seriously*.

Two things you shouldn't take seriously - games and ... yourself. A little humility, one puts oneself in place and thereby saves a lot of being offended.

Two things you should take super-seriously: Hashem and how you spend your time.
