One rabbi who has become extremely visible the last year or so on the Internet [he probably has a PR guy working for him but who knows - he gets loads of clicks and besides his own show is interviewed all over the place] has a whole long dialogue with a priest about religion. He can do as he wishes but he is being מחטיא the רבים b/c the Gemara in Shabbos [ע"ה] says that if one learns from an אמגושי [even Divrei Torah!!] he is חייב מיתה - and so paskens the Shulchan Aruch [179-19]. An אמגושי is a מין האדוק בעבודה זרה ...ומסית אנשים לע״ז and the dude with the funny dress, huge colorful kippah and big cross is big-time אמגושי. So unless I am missing something here the whole thing is super-assur [unless one argues that the Gemara was referring to a Persian Avoda Zara and thus it wouldn't apply to other religions but זיל בתר טעמא!]. [I, of course, didn't watch].
יא. והלומד דבר אחד מן האמגוש, חייב מיתה. הנפש האנושית כשהיא משתקעת בכל מעמקיה, בהגיונותיה, בהרגשותיה, בחפצה ובדמיונותיה, ובכל מגמתה בעמקי הגסות הבהמית, סוללת היא לעצמה דרכי חושך רבים ועמוקים מאד. המגמה הכללית של ארחות החושך היא להביא את השלום המבוקש בתכונת האדם בין נטיותיו הרעות והשפלות ובין נטיותיו הטובות והרמות ע"י המתת אלה האחרונות והשלטת הראשונות הרעות והשפלות בכל מילואן באדם, וממנו בעולם בכלל. האמגושיות כוננת ע"ז את דרכיה. והדרכים מסובכים עד מאד. לפעמים יהיו כלי חפץ להמגמה הכללית גם הצעות טובות ולימודים שמצד עצמם היו יכולים להיות טובים, אבל התכונה האמגושית היא טובעת עליהם את חותמה הארסי שכל מה שנכנס בגבולה יהיה להועיל להרבות החושך והשלטת הנטיות השפלות של צד החיה שבאדם הפרטי והכללי בכל מלא עוזן ונצחון חוצפתן. לימודים היוצאים ממקור משחת זה הם מארסים בשיעורם היותר קטן, מסבבים תכונה של נטיית התעוררות הצד הרע שבאדם בצורה חזקה, מתבצרת ועושה פירות ושולחת ענפים להגדיל סורי הגפן נכריה, מגפן סדום ושדמות עמורה, עד שהלומד דבר אחד מהאמגושי כבר מצעיד נפשו הלאה מארחות החיים.

The text warns against the dangers of even minimal exposure to "Amgush," a force that corrupts the human soul by prioritizing base desires over virtuous ones. The author argues that "the human soul, when immersed in all its depths, in its reasonings, in its feelings, in its desires and imaginations, and in all its tendency in the depths of bestial coarseness, paves for itself many and very deep paths of darkness." This darkness aims to achieve a false peace by "killing the latter [good inclinations] and establishing the former [bad inclinations] in all their fullness in man, and from him in the world in general." The methods of "Amgush" are complex, sometimes even using seemingly good ideas to further its agenda: "sometimes there will be instruments of desire for the general tendency also good proposals and teachings that in themselves could have been good, but the Amgushic nature stamps on them its poisonous seal." This "poisonous seal" ensures that everything within its reach contributes to increasing darkness and empowering the base instincts of the animalistic side of humanity. The author emphasizes the insidious nature of this influence, stating that "teachings emanating from this corrupt source are poisonous in their smallest measure, causing a tendency to awaken the evil side of man in a strong, fortified form, bearing fruit and sending branches to enlarge the degenerate vine, from the vine of Sodom and the fields of Gomorrah." Therefore, "he who learns one thing from the Amgushi already moves his soul away from the paths of life.".
While on the topic of this man - he has interesting hashkafos. He holds that the Charedim have it wrong, the Religious Zionists have it wrong and the only person on earth privy to the TRUE hashkafa is ... him.
