Boaz went up to the gate and sat there. And, behold, the redeemer of whom Boaz spoke passed, and he said, "Turn aside; sit here Ploni Almoni". And he turned aside and sat.
The redeemer said, "I will not be able to redeem, lest I destroy my inheritance. You take my redemption rights for yourself, for I will not be able to redeem it."
Wow! Ploni Almoni could have been the grandfather of Moshiach. But he missed out. Bad decision.
Mussar Haskel: Grab Opportunities and don't let marginal considerations [see Meforshim on פן אשחית את נחלתי] stop you.
Maybe he was feeling the financial pinch b/c he was paying so much to his ex-wife.
Ploni Alimony.
