A svara from Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. A pregnant woman is walking down the street. She is assaulted and as a result miscarries. Is there anyone who would argue that the assaulter shouldn't be punished for terminating her pregnancy?? Even most pro abortion people would agree that he should be punished! But why? If the unborn baby is just a bunch of cells [as they claim], then what did he do? He killed a few cells? She has billions more.... So even the pro abortion ["Planned Non-Parenthood"] people understand that there is a life inside of there that has value and significance. Their argument then is that the mother has the right to terminate that life if she sees fit...
Reminded me of a pasuk:
וְכִי יִנָּצוּ אֲנָשִׁים וְנָגְפוּ אִשָּׁה הָרָה וְיָצְאוּ יְלָדֶיהָ וְלֹא יִהְיֶה אָסוֹן עָנוֹשׁ יֵעָנֵשׁ כַּאֲשֶׁר יָשִׁית עָלָיו בַּעַל הָאִשָּׁה וְנָתַן בִּפְלִלִים.
And if men fight and they smite a pregnant woman, and her children come out [the Torah calls unborn babies "children"!!], but there is no harm [to the woman], he shall surely be punished as the women's husband imposes upon him, and he shall give according to the judges. [See the Meforshim]
