יֶשׁ־לְאֵ֣ל יָדִ֔י לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת עִמָּכֶ֖ם רָ֑ע וֵֽאלֹהֵ֨י אֲבִיכֶ֜ם אֶ֣מֶשׁ׀ אָמַ֧ר אֵלַ֣י לֵאמֹ֗ר הִשָּׁ֧מֶר לְךָ֛ מִדַּבֵּ֥ר עִֽם־יַעֲקֹ֖ב מִטּ֥וֹב עַד־רָֽע׃
There is power in my hand to do you harm, but the God of your father said to me yesterday, saying, 'Take care that you do not speak with Yaakov, either good or bad.'
Hashem appears to Lavan in a dream and he doesn't change a bit. Same Lavan. Threatening Yaakov. I *could* cause you harm but won't and continues in his Lavanism till the end.
Many of us are the same. Hashem speaks to us, sends us messages - and we remain the same.
