Hundreds of Jewish protesters demonstrated today outside the UN demanding an immediate cease fire in Gaza.
Rabbi Jessica Rosenberg led the rally and proclaimed: "There MUST be a cease fire. The poor innocent Palestinians have suffered ENOUGH. Israeli aggression has gotten totally out of hand. This is disproportional. I mean, only 1400 Israelis died at the hands of freedom fighters who love eating Humus and some hostages were taken to show what life is like in Gaza. In response the Israeli colonialists have carried out what can only be described by lesbian rabbinic scholars such as myself [whose doctorate was on "Belly Dancing In The Bible and Rabbinic Literature"] as genocide. Palestinians have no less a right to life than Jews. Every night I go to sleep crying and asking goddess her highness may her name be blessed to make me a Palestinian when I wake up. I can't bear being Jewish and queer any more. I know that as a queer person the Muslims will accept and love me. But first, this genocide must stop!!!"
Jessica was asked by our reporter how the Israelis can make a cease fire when Hamas won't abide by it and promises to kill every last Jew. She responded "why do you have to speak in such violent terms. All we are saying is give peace a chance. Aren't you a Beatles fan??"
Another protester "Jasmine" said "the most Jewish thing to do is to make peace. That and being a vegan. I mean, what about the poor animals? It is pure genocide what the meat market does to those poor sweet things. And if we don't do something about climate change the earth only has 5.2 years left until it burns up."
Cantor Beth Mishigenstein then lead the group in singing "“From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free”. The protesters peacefully and tearfully sang along.
Rabbi Rosenberg asserted: "As a rabbi and a queer one at that, I call for the establishment of a State of Palestine from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, erasing the State of Israel. We had our chance for 75 years and proved ourselves unworthy. Now it is the Palestinians chance to live in their ancestral homeland that they have been dreaming and fighting for for 75 years. Only 4925 years less than the Jews. But what is a thousand years in the eyes of her holy goddess??"
As of publishing time, PM Netanyahu has repeatedly refused to respond to Rabbi Rosenberg's texts.
