In the interest of "equity", JOFA [the Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance] has advanced a motion to rename one of the months "אם" [preferably the month PRECEDING אב].
Speaking of "Orthodox" feminists [an oxymoron according to Rav Moshe Feinstein ztz"l] - I saw an article by one of the more outspoken ones. In it, she addressed a hot button topic. She wrote that the she can't discuss the issues from Jewish sources b/c she is not qualified to do so. Instead, she will just present her opinion sans ["w/o" in Yiddish] the sources.
In other words - Let's leave the Torah and Jewish tradition out of this question of Torah and Jewish tradition. Instead - let's follow what *I* think. Wow!! So original!!!😊😊 A new way of resolving Jewish questions. No need to look at our sources. Just bring together all of the NY Times editorials, tweets, blog and Facebook posts, Shabbos table opinions etc. etc. that you have digested and form an opinion. Then write an article in Tablet or the Forward or other respectable Torah publications and presto - Psak Halacha!! Where is Jen Psaki when we need her?? This lady admits that she is ignorant of Torah and yet writes and lectures extensively on Jewish topics.
OYYYYYYY - sweet friends. Sometimes we have to make leitzanus from people whose entire approach is leitzanus. Not in a malicious way ח"ו. Just to use the gift of humor to see the utter absurdity. When we interact with them they should be treated with dignity as should all people created בצלם א-להים.
