I once heard a RY of a Hesder Yeshiva pleading with the boys to get filters for their smartphones.
I was shocked. He is essentially saying "It is highly recommended but not obligatory to refrain from looking at pornogrophy". In any serious Yeshiva [in the Charedi world] a boy who is caught with a smartphone WITH A FILTER is gone. And he is taking it for granted that boys will have a phone and he is just asking that they get filters.
It is your Yeshiva. Keep it pure. 18-23 year old boys cannot be expected to have that machine in their hand and use it only to find out zmanim, minyanim etc. There are such boys. But such boys generally don't have phones... Every day we ask Hashem "ואל תביאני לידי ניסיון". How can someone say this and then walk around w/ the biggest nisayon on earth.
I asked a head of a post HS what they call "gap program" how he allows this. Boys are watching disgusting movies in the dorm??!!!
His answer: Competition. The other schools allow it. If we don't - we won't get boys. That answer didn't satisfy me. I wonder if it satisfies Hashem.
If the other schools allowed girls to sleep over in the dorm - you would allow it as well??
If other schools allowed משכב זכור in the dorms - would you allow that too??
If the other schools allow boys to eat unkosher pizza - you would allow that?
If the other schools allowed boys to violate Shabbos - you would too??
What is the difference?
