PALM BEACH, FL — In just the last week, Donald Trump called Florida’s six-week abortion ban “terrible,” refused to endorse national restrictions, blamed abortion opponents for Republicans’ 2022 election disappointments and pledged to compromise with Democrats on the issue if elected.
In an interview with Meet the Press, former President Donald J. Trump told moderator Kristen Welker that there are "very fine people on both sides" of the baby murder issue.
"Yes, I think there are fine people on both sides. If you look at both sides, the baby killers and the not baby killers--very fine people," Trump said. "And I've been on both sides, believe me."
Welker first broached the subject by asking Trump to clarify earlier comments that he thought DeSantis' heartbeat law was "a terrible thing" and that he "would do literally anything for votes, up to and including baby murder."
"Mr. President, you were voted into office by a pro-life coalition and helped overturn Roe v. Wade, yet condemn heartbeat laws due to being unpopular - can you clarify your position?" asked Ms. Welker.
"Look if you want, I'll murder a baby right now, just like I murdered Roe v. Wade. But you won't let me because you're fake news," Trump said defiantly, owning the libs. "We could have peace on this issue for the first time in 52 years, but you have DeSanctimonious passing these terrible laws that you can't kill babies if they have a heartbeat. He's upset a lot of very fine baby killers, that Meatball Ron. I am totally, totally against abortion. Unless I am not. A woman has a right to decide. It is her choice. Totally. And it is wrong. Immoral. And lemme tell you. I know about morality. Not like CNN who make a mockery out of morality."
At publishing time, Trump had clarified that his only position was that baby supporters and baby killers should both be happy with his position.
