In a recent post we saw the story of the HS principal of Alan Dershowitz telling him that he would amount to nothing.
Sadly and tragically, he was absolutely right. And not only because AD is a mechalel Shabbos who lives basically the lifestyle of a Goy. And not only b/c he numbered amongst his friends the late not so great Jeff Epstein and has vehemently denied sleeping with a 17 year old girl in that context. [I don't know if he is telling the truth but a] he has every reason to lie and b] isn't it embarrassing that a man in his 70's-80's keeps company that would bring upon him such accusations? c] עמי הארץ have no נאמנות]. And not only because his son married a Catholic so this Orthodox born and raised Brooklyn Jew [who was called Avi in his youth] has non-Jewish grandchildren [whom he considers Jewish!!].
But because he is an עם הארץ [see https://www.aspaklaria.info/ under the entry "עם הארץ" for what our rabbis had to say about such people]. And THAT makes him, sadly, a failure. Such a good head went to waste.... World famous lawyer? Harvard law Prof.? Multi-Guzzilionaire? Not worth ONE Krias Shma that he never says or one mishna that he never learns.
Rav Shlomo Zalman ztz"l had sons who were/are tremendous Gedolei Torah in their own right. What was his secret? Well, he would pressure them to become great Talmidei Chachomim. He would instead impress upon them the utter גנאי and disgrace of being an ignoramous!! And it WORKED!!!👍😊
