Someone I know recently made a Bar Mitzva for well over 300,000 dollars. I have written extensively about this phenomenon in the past.
This time I will suffice with a bracha for all of my readers [ואני בתוכם!] that we should all be able to AFFORD to make such lavish smachot!!:-)
