I heard a speech from the PM on Yom HaZikaron given to the families of victims of Arab terror and soldiers who died in the line of duty. His message was - it hurts but it's worth it b/c we have a Medinah and an army!!! 馃挭馃挭
I don't understand. The secular Zionist ethos is that we need a Medinah and an army so that we will be safe. No more can our enemies randomly kill us on a whim, systematically or otherwise. Well, let's see. 24,213 people [about 98 percent male] have fallen on the battlefield. Is that safety?? Has the goal been achieved??? Add to that well over 3,000 people killed in terrorist attacks and all of the people who were injured on the battlefield and in attacks and we have quite a large number. Then add all of the families and friends of the victims who were deeply affected and the numbers are magnified exponentially. The Medinah was supposed to end Anti-Semitism. Now they can't hate us anymore because we are in our own little space in the Middle East. That obviously hasn't happened.
So why do we need a Medinah?? We need a Medinah to build an infrastructure so we can live in the Eretz Hakdosha and serve Hashem. Not for any Zionist machismo and not to create a new Jew who is divorced from his heritage. Chas Vi-shalom.
I wish that our "leaders" would realize that.
