BROOKLYN, NY — Former Hasidic lifestyle influencer Chaya Rivka Weiss, who recently dared to part ways with the insular world of Satmar Orthodoxy, leaving her husband and seven children, suffered brutal persecution this week in the form of a six-figure memoir deal from Penguin Random House, sources confirmed Thursday.
The popular "Sheitels & Shabbos Menus And More" blogger recently posted a photo of herself in denim jeans on Instagram, and according to Weiss, the mistreatment and character assassinations began almost immediately.
"The first attack came in the form of a 5,000-word profile in The New York Times Magazine," she said, dabbing her eyes. "But the persecution didn't stop there: next, I was forced to accept a healthy cash advance for a book covering my 'harrowing' journey toward secularism."
"It's not easy being brutalized with Netflix documentary offers, speaking engagements at the 92nd Street Y, and encouraging tweets from Julia Haart telling me how 'unorthodox' and brave I am, but I must make a stand for my truth," she added.
At publishing time, Weiss had broken down weeping after suffering vicious persecution by being asked to serve as a creative consultant on a new prestige miniseries about her life that will net her millions of dollars.
