Friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens,
I stand before you today with the fire of history in my heart and the weight of a promise that spans millennia! They tell us to look at the world through a narrow lens, to forget the foundations upon which our stories are built. But I say we look back—all the way back to the very first command!
When the Creator spoke to Abraham, he didn't say "stay put." He said, "Lech Lecha." Go! Go to the land I will show you. And let us be clear about the lineage of that promise: it was a covenant forged for Isaac, a destiny carved out for his descendants, rooted in the very soil we speak of today!
The Courage of the Return
Think of the bravery required in those ancient days. When the command came to reclaim that land from the Canaanites, it wasn't a walk in the park. It was a test of spirit! It was the courage of a people who knew that their inheritance wasn't just a suggestion—it was a divine mandate. They fought, they built, and they raised a Holy Temple in Jerusalem that stood as a beacon to the entire world!
Two Thousand Years of Longing
Now, they’ll try to tell you that time erases a claim. They’ll tell you that two thousand years of exile makes a people strangers to their own home. I say they’re wrong! For two millennia, in every corner of the earth—from the cold streets of Europe to the mountains of North Africa—the Jewish people never turned their backs.
They didn't just remember; they yearned.
They didn't just hope; they prayed.
Every single day, three times a day, they turned their faces toward Jerusalem.
While other texts may remain silent—while the Koran itself never once utters the name of Jerusalem—the Jewish soul has never uttered anything else!
A Modern Invention
We must speak truth to power and truth to history. We hear talk of ancient claims from others, but we look at the facts: the Palestinian flag, their very national identity as we're told it exists today, was born in 1964. It is a modern construction! You cannot compare a sixty-two-year-old banner to a five-thousand-year-old covenant!
The Homecoming
Today, we see the miracle. We see the return. The Jews have come back to their God-given inheritance! After the wandering, after the pain, after the silence of the centuries, the children of Isaac have come home to the hills of Judea and the streets of Zion.
It is a triumph of faith over time. It is a triumph of the promise over the exile. And I am overjoyed to stand here and witness the restoration of what was always, eternally, meant to be!
