A Yid from Lakewood who killed someone while driving drunk [and was now sentenced to six years in jail] spearheaded a pledge where about 50 thousand people pledged not to drink and drive.
It is very sad that drinking and driving is even on the table that people have to pledge not to. Like - do we have to pledge not to snort cocaine or pledge not to rob a bank. But that is where we are holding. There are a lot of frum Jews who drink too much.
Well, after much internal conflict and debate I have decided to take the pledge. What helped me make my decision is that a] I can't afford to own a car. b] I don't drink and [this was the clincher] c] I don't have a drivers license. And I am not planning to get one.
So I took the leap.
