CHANUKAH CELEBRATIONS
Boruch Hashem things are somewhat better
this week in artzeinu hakdosha, however there’s
plenty of suffering still going on - still too many
hostages, thousands of wounded people and
thousands of aveilim with bleeding hearts. I
think it’s only proper that our Chanuka parties (if
Moshiach isn’t here by then) should be minimized
this year. Let’s remove one game from the schedule,
or one course from the seuda to be noseh b’ol with
our suffering brothers and sisters. We should also
announce what we’re doing to everyone present so
that the children should learn the lesson.
Rav Yaakov Yosef Herman, zatzal, of All for The
Boss fame left out one course from his children’s
chasunas and put up a sign that its zecher l’churban.

שאלתי הבוקר לאחר תפילת הנץ את פי מו"ר מרן הגר"י זילברשטיין, האם נכונה
השמועה על כך שהורה לא לעשות מסיבות חנוכה גדולות, ומרן שליט"א השיב שאכן
הורה כך. הרב שליט"א הסביר את הוראתו שהדבר עלול לגרום לחילול השם, שבעוד
שיהודים נהרגים ונשחטים רח"ל בעזה, שומרי-מצוות רוקדים ושמחים. הרב סיפר
על כמה מרבותיו, שהורו כך בתקופות המלחמות שהיו בארץ ישראל.
כשאמרנו לרב, שהקהל מבקש לדעת פרטים נוספים, ובעיקר - כיצד כן מותר לעשות
את המסיבה, השיב מרן שליט"א ואמר שאין בכך כללים מפורטים, אלא כל אחד
יפעיל את שכלו וכוח-שיפוטו, ויחשוב כיצד לא לגרום לחילול השם.
ונזכה לנסים ונפלאות בימים ההם בזמן הזה.
