A certain army officer has been going to Yeshivos [uninvited] and telling the boys to enlist in the army. He also met with Rav Dov Landau [it is videoed] insisting that Yeshiva boys enlist [R' Dov wasn't convinced...]. He says that he appreciates the value of Torah study but this is a מלחמת מצוה so everyone must go wage battle. He himself learned in a Hesder Yeshiva.
Here is what he said in an interview on ynet when asked about the Charedim:
הציבור היחיד בעולם שניתן לשנוא אותו ולהישאר נאור.
WOW! Like - Nazis speak that way....
He has the Halachic status of an Apikorus and אין לו חלק לעולם הבא [Sanhedrin 99b].
The fact that people like that are in control of the army is one of the reasons why Charedi boys are taught not to enlist.
