What did Hashem do to make sure we remain Jewish?
He made sure that the people who would want to jettison Jewish practice and rebel against Malchus Shomayim would ALSO be the ones to insist that we live in Israel, build up the country with a strong army and willingness to die for the land and people of Israel, restore Hebrew as the spoken language and connect deeply to the Tanach [while of course not keeping much of what it says and ignoring its messages]. Like - if you want to rebel against Hashem, why do you return to his Land, speak His language and study His book!??!! SILLY JEWS!!! You don't know how to rebel!!!
He ALSO made sure that all those who try so hard to assimilate into Gentile culture would be constantly reminded by the Goyim in the *most unpleasant of ways* that they are Jewish. So paradoxically, it is those who hate the Jews so much who contribute so significantly to Jewish identity!!!
He ALSO made sure that Torah would not be forgotten so that NO MATTER how bitter the exile - serious Torah learning never stopped. Tosfos, for example, was written during the period of the crusades and terrible pogroms!! There has never been a time in Jewish history with more Jews learning Torah full time like today.
So Jews who tried to reject Judaism, Jew hating Gentiles and faithful Jews combined to insure our eternity!!!
